[Listen] SPANK ROCK ft. SANTIGOLD: ‘Car Song’

Spank Rock has teamed up with Santigold once again on ‘Car Song’. The pair are always awesome together, and this song is no exception. This is our second taste of Spank Rock’s upcoming second album Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a Fucking Liar, which is due next week. We were previously treated to a bizarre …

Duncan Jones hand-drawn SOURCE CODE timeline

While Source Code may not have lived up to the brilliance of Moon, Duncan Jones second feature is still one of my favourite films of 2011. The man is a master of entertaining, thought-provoking sci-fi. This week he tweeted a Source Code production doodle which offers some interesting insight into how Jones explained the film’s multiple …

[Listen] ALISON MOSSHART covers ‘What A Wonderful World’

Alison Mosshart is known for her wild rock’n’roll as the front-woman for The Kills and The Dead Weather. But viewers of Sons of Anarchy were introduced to a softer side of Ms. Mosshart during last night’s premiere episode with an acoustic cover of Louis Armstrong’s 1968 classic ‘What A Wonderful World’.

[Watch] LITTLE DRAGON: ‘Brush The Heat’

Swedish electro outfit Little Dragon have a trippy new video for ‘Brush the Heat’, the latest single from their third album Ritual Union. The video, which features a mix of performance footage, pretty flowers and freaky eyeballs, was directed by animator Yusuke Nagano who is the father of vocalist Yukimi Nagano.

Nike Air Mags are here! [UPDATED]

This post has been updated. See below. After a heap of rumours and teasers, Nike finally confirmed with a new promo that they will be releasing a new shoe called “Nike Air Mag”, AKA the self-lacing sneakers seen in Back to the Future II. This is hugely exciting for every geek out there and brings us …

The 2011 Mercury Prize took place this week, with PJ Harvey taking away the honours for her album Let England Shake. Today we get to see some of the great performances from the award ceremony, including Polly Jean herself, Elbow, James Blake and Metronomy.

MOS DEF will retire his name at the end of this year

Rapper and actor Mos Def is following in the footsteps of Cat Stevens and Prince and will retire his moniker at the end of 2011. He plans to change his name to “Yasiin”, which is Arabic for “rich”, for a fresh start to 2012.

[Watch] STEPHEN MALKMUS & THE JICKS: ‘Tigers’

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have a new video for ‘Tigers’, the opening track off their fantastic new LP Mirror Traffic. The video features a host of tiger facts and a man in a tiger costume demonstrating them. It’s wonderfully odd and easily one of my favourites of 2011.

[Watch] RYAN ADAMS: ‘Ashes & Fire’

Ryan Adams gives us another taste of his forthcoming back-from-retirement album in the form of this video for title track ‘Ashes & Fire’. We’ve previously heard ‘Lucky Now’, and from the sound of both tracks Ashes & Fire is going to be closer to the lovely and melancholy sounds of his classic solo debut Heartbreaker than …

[Watch] WILCO: ‘Born Alone’ + Jeff Tweedy’s BLACK EYED PEAS covers

Wilco have released a new video for ‘Born Alone’, a cut from their forthcoming album The Whole Love. The scrapbook style video is made up of behind the scenes images of the recording of the album. The track has a warmly familiar Wilco feel, and after the great first single ‘I Might’, I’m looking forward to …
