Today is officially Arcade Fire Hype Day: the group released their epic 7-minute single ‘Reflektor’, two new videos for the track, announced they will perform on the Tina Fey-hosted SNL premiere later this month, and revealed the album art for Reflektor — which has been confirmed as a double LP! Produced by James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and featuring guest vocals from David Bowie, the dancey new track is quite a departure for Win Butler and co. The first video is an interactive one shot in Haiti and directed by frequent collaborator Vincent Morisset, and you should check it out at justareflektor.com. The second, official clip is directed by iconic photographer/director Anton Corbijn and is shot in characteristically beautiful black-and-white. Featuring the band themselves and papier-mâché versions of each member (a continuation from their ‘Sprawl II‘ era), as well as some kind of disco-ball-suited Reflektor Man, this noirish caper is as wonderfully odd as the track itself and immediately one of my favourites of the year. Arcade Fire are heading to Auckland in January for the 2014 Big Day Out, and I just can’t wait.Reflektor is due October 29. Check out the album art and Anton Corbijn’s video for ‘Reflektor’ below.
