With an overwhelming twelve nominations, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln is the clear frontrunner for the upcoming 2013 Academy Awards, and New Zealand audiences now have a chance to see what all the fuss is about in cinemas. Set toward the turbulent end of America’s Civil War, the film stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the iconic 16th President of the United States, and his magnificent performance is looking likely to win him a record-breaking third Best Actor Oscar. Spielberg shows remarkable restraint here, delivering a film that is equal parts character study and history lesson, and perhaps his most subtle work to date. He is aided tremendously by Tony Kushner’s terrific screenplay, as well as the remarkable ensemble cast which includes supporting actor nominees Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones, not to mention a hilarious turn from James Spader. A Fistful of Culture has five double passes to giveaway to the film thanks to 20th Century Fox, so be sure to enter the draw below for your chance to win.
