[WATCH] First teaser trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s ZERO DARK THIRTY

The first teaser trailer and official images have been released for Kathryn Bigelow’s highly anticipated true story thriller Zero Dark Thirty, which follows special operations forces’ hunt for Osama Bin Laden. The film’s huge cast includes Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Edgar Ramirez, Kyle Chandler, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, Jason Clarke, Harold Perrineau, Nash Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, Fares Fares and more, although this teaser focusses instead on the story, relying on multiple voiceovers and graphics. While we know how it will end (“Zero Dark Thirty” is military speak for 30 minutes past midnight, which was roughly the time Seal Team 6 landed in Bin Laden’s Pakistan compound), this teaser still manages to be exciting and intense, and Bigelow and her The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal have made it clear that the extensively researched film has no political agenda (the film’s release was pushed back a month so as to not seem like a propaganda piece for President Obama in the November elections).

Zero Dark Thirty hits US theatres on December 19, and New Zealand on January 31. Check out the first teaser trailer and some new images from the film below (via The PlaylistEW)
