The Antlers returned this week with a brand new EP titled Undersea. We’ve previously heard the lush, slow-building ‘Drift Dive‘ and the glitchy, sample-relient ‘Crest‘, and now you can stream all four tracks. Undersea is described by frontman Peter Silberman as “an EP in length, but well beyond that in scope,” which certainly rings true. The self-produced EP is a lush, gorgeous and elegant emotional journey, bringing to mind Sigur Rós, Jeff Buckley and Portishead at times, as Silberman’s distant and evocative lyrics tell dramatic, mournful tales of heartache. I loved last year’s sophomore LP Burst Apart, but Undersea is perhaps the trio’s best release so far, and I can’t wait for their next album.
