The first trailer has surfaced for Fernando Meirelles’ latest feature 360, which features an all-star cast and a script from the venerable Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen). Based on the classic Arthur Schnitzler play Reigen, the film weaves together the stories of an array of characters – lead by Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Ben Foster, and Anthony Hopkins – from disparate social backgrounds through their intersecting relationships. I admire Meirelles greatly – City of God is one of my favourite films, and The Constant Gardener was terrific – and with the talent involved here this should be a no brainer, but reactions from its Toronto International Film Festival premiere were lukewarm and this trailer does little to excite me, seemingly borrowing Alejandro González Iñárritu’s (Babel) shtick. Obviously the talent on board makes 360 a must-see, but I’m more curious than excited at this point.
360 opens August 3 in the US. Watch the first trailer below (via Collider).
