Saturday Night Live has had a pretty rough season following the loss of Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg, but over the weekend they delivered one of their strongest episodes in awhile with host Christoph Waltz. The Quentin Tarantino favourite was there to promote his Academy Award-nominated film Django Unchained, and the highlight of the show was a hilarious parody of Tarantino’s ouvre titled Djesus Uncrossed. The short stars Waltz as the resurrected Christ out for vengeance — and we are surprisingly not spared the blood nor production values here — with Taran Killam doing an impressive Brad Pitt impression, Kenan Thompson as a passable Ving Rhames, and the usually reliable Jay Pharoah struggling with Samuel L. Jackson. The entire thing is just inspired fun, so let’s hope it’s a good omen for the rest of the season.
