[WATCH] CAT POWER hilariously sends up her sensitive reputation

Cat Power

Chan Marshall has made an unexpected and hilarious Funny or Die sketch in which she skewers her reputation for onstage breakdowns, which can hopefully be taken as a good sign of her mental health right now. In the Alex Fernie-directed short, Cat Power attempts to play classic family songs such as ‘The Itsy Bitsy Spider’ and ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm’ to a classroom of young kids, before getting “distracted” by their hand-dances and feeling “disrespected” when they sing along. Things get even more awkward when Chan feels like her art is being “rushed” as the teacher (Danielle Schneider) tries to interrupt her story about “really looking a cow in the eyes”.

Cat Power will tour New Zealand in February.
