[WATCH] Enrico Casarosa’s luminous Pixar short LA LUNA

If you missed Pixar’s Brave in cinemas earlier this year, chances are you haven’t seen Enrico Casarosa’s short film La Luna which screened beforehand and can be found on the upcoming blu-ray release. The cute and radiant short — which was Oscar-nominated, losing to The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore  is the first from the Italian storyboard artist and follows one revelatory night in the life of a young boy named Bambino. Accompanying his father and grandfather on a midnight sailing trip, he soon discovers that his gruff forefather’s line of work is much more fantastical than anticipated, and while the short lacks some of Pixar’s trademark wit and ingenuity, it is nonetheless a gorgeously-animated and rather touching piece of magical realism and a refreshing change of pace from the studio’s usual output.

Brave is available on DVD/blu-ray on November 13 in the US and November 23 in NZ. Watch La Luna below (via io9).
