The full theatrical trailer has landed for J.J. Abrams’ feverishly-speculated-about sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, continuing the foreboding tone of the teaser without revealing too much more. We catch a glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch’s mysterious villain — who is allegedly a terrorist named John Harrison, and NOT Khan — as he glares from the inside of one of those The Avengers-style glass prisons that are so in vogue this year. There are more grand, IMAX-filmed action setpieces teased this time around, and this trailer also serves as a re-introduction to the returning Star Trek cast of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg. The final scene still seems very The Wrath of Khan-esque, and the overall style and tone can’t escape the Christopher Nolan comparisons, but this sequel remains highly promising and I’m looking forward to seeing more.
