A brand new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was unveiled at the MTV Awards last night, providing the only real reason for the show’s existence and featuring a decent amount of new footage. The trailer focusses chiefly on Anne Hathaway’s Selena Kyle, but we also get to see a little more of Joseph Gordon Levitt’s much-speculated character John Blake (Marion Cotillard is still mysteriously absent from the marketing campaign). Warners also released two more TV spots over the past week, and each glimpse of new footage we see continues to prove that Christopher Nolan’s third and final chapter in the Dark Knight saga will be the film event of 2012. Collider recently revealed that The Dark Knight Rises will run for an immense 2 hours and 45 minutes, which further proves just how epic this finale is going to be.

The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20 on IMAX, and stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Matthew Modine and Juno Temple. Watch the MTV Awards trailer below, as well as two recent TV spots.
