The first trailer has arrived for Disney’s upcoming animated feature Wreck-It Ralph, which stars the voice of John C. Reilly as the titular character. Set in the world of video games, Ralph is a Rampage-esque 8-bit character who attempts to shed his bad-guy image by escaping into a popular first-person shooter, but inadvertently wreaks havoc by freeing a digital villain. The voice cast also includes Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch. It looks to me as though Disney and director Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) have got a great concept on their hands here, reminiscent of groundbreaking classics Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Toy Story, and this first trailer features some great laughs and classic game characters. The soundtrack choices are a little dodgy (aside from Talking Heads), and Silverman’s character seems a little too cutesy here, but let’s hope it’s just a patchy first trailer and Wreck-It Ralph nails it.
Wreck-It Ralph is due November 2 in the US. Check out the first trailer and poster below.
