Following last year’s lyrical first trailer and some positive festival buzz, a new trailer has been released for Abbas Kiarostami’s highly anticipated Like Someone in Love ahead of its US release. The film is somewhat of a companion piece to 2011’s brilliant Certified Copy, this time set in Japan and chronicling the unusual relationship between a student (Rin Takanashi) who works as a prostitute on the side and an elderly academic (Tadashi Okuno) who is one of her clients. Ryo Kase (Letters From Iwo Jima, Outrage) also stars. Considering the first trailer was dialogue-free, this is our first real look at the characters and it continues to look just as enigmatic and gorgeous as you would expect from the Iranian master filmmaker. There is no New Zealand release scheduled as yet, but let’s hope that changes soon as this remains one of my most anticipated films of 2013.
Like Someone in Love is set for a limited release on February 15 in the US. Watch the latest trailer below (via The Film Stage).
