Second trailer for ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’

I’ve previously mentioned how ridiculously excited I am for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Now a second trailer has been released and we get to see a little more of the extremely impressive cast. Ciaran Hinds and Toby Jones make appearances alongside what can only be considered the best actors Britain has to offer: Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch.

This is the second film from Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In) who looks set to become the new master of tension. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is out September 16 in the UK, but unfortunately the rest of the world will have to wait until November 18.

Check out the great trailer below (via Slashfilm)

John Le Carré’s 1974 novel has been adapted once before as a 1979 BBC mini-series starring Alec Guinness. For those curious, watch the original trailer below.

Based on the array of talent surrounding Alredson’s film, plus the two excellent trailers, I’m certain it will fair well with fans of both the novel and the BBC series. Read the synopsis below.

The man he knew as “Control” is dead, and the young Turks who forced him out now run the Circus. But George Smiley isn’t quite ready for retirement – especially when a pretty, would-be defector surfaces with a shocking accusation: a Soviet mole has penetrated the highest level of British Intelligence. Relying only on his wits and a small, loyal cadre, Smiley traces the breach back to Karla – his Moscow Centre nemesis-and sets a trap to catch the traitor.
