Phase Two of Marvel’s master plan is set to begin with the imminent release of Iron Man 3, and a new international trailer for Shane Black’s film has surfaced to sell us on the plot (as if that were necessary by this point). While the dour first trailer showcased an unexpectedly dark tone as it introduced us to the film’s mysterious villain, The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), this international trailer appropriately points the spotlight back on Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) and addresses just how he is going to combat his new problems — seemingly with plenty of new armor/Iron Men and a Hulkbuster! Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) seems to be coming into play more this time around, although Rebecca Hall and Guy Pearce’s roles — and how much of the Extremis storyline is featured — are mercifully being kept under wraps. In related news, writer/director Black recently discussed the franchise’s future with Premiere Magazine, saying, “I have the feeling that the story that we have developed for Iron Man 3 actually concluded a trilogy, while [also] leaving the door open to a fourth.”
Iron Man 3 hits NZ theatres on April 25, and US on May 3. Watch the international trailer below.
