Eden of the East is anime hotshot Kenji Kamiyama’s follow-up to his widely acclaimed series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The series follows a young Japanese woman who, while on vacation in the United States, gets herself into trouble and becomes entangled with a mysterious fellow countryman that has lost his memory and may be involved with a devastating terrorist attack on Japan. Playing like a bizarro riff on The Bourne Identity at times, Kamiyama’s weird and charming show is one of the most refreshing animes in recent years and comes highly recommended. The 11-episode first series and two subsequent movies have been collected in a DVD set that is available now in New Zealand, and A Fistful of Culture has three of these to giveaway thanks to Madman.
