Danny Boyle is following up 2010’s 127 Hours and the success of last year’s London Olympics opening ceremony with the crime thriller Trance. The film stars James McAvoy as an art auctioneer who masterminds a heist with a gang of thieves led by Vincent Cassel, only to lose his memory and the painting after suffering a blow to the head. A hypnotherapist (Rosario Dawson) is brought in to help cure his amnesia, as suspicions begin to grow within the gang. With a pulsing score by Rick Smith (Underworld), an abundance of style and a frenetic pace, this looks to be a refreshing take on the genre and promises to be yet another winner from Boyle.
Trance opens March 27 in the UK, April 4 in NZ, and April 5 in the US. Watch the first trailer below.
