[WATCH] SUN KIL MOON on FALLON with THE ROOTS

Mark Kozelek has quietly and steadily been building an undeniably staggering catalog over the past 20 years, under the monickers of Red House Painters, solo releases, and most famously as Sun Kil Moon. Which is why it’s surprising to discover that last night’s appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was the singer-songwriters first television performance. Unexpectedly teaming up with house band The Roots (his performances are usually solo), Kozelek delivered a breathtaking version of ‘The Moderately Talented Young Woman’ from Sun Kil Moon’s recent LP Among the Leaves, and followed that up with a rendition of Red House Painters’ classic ‘Mistress’ as a web exclusive. Both performances were remarkable and serve as a reminder of what a great songwriter Kozelek is, as well as what an effortlessly impressive live band The Roots are.
