More BIG DAY OUT 2013 sideshows announced for New Zealand

Following this week’s announcement that Animal Collective will play Auckland in January, further Big Day Out 2013 sideshows for New Zealand were revealed earlier today. The four diverse groups announced for January shows here are: Canadian electro-goth duo Crystal Castles, Seattle folk-rockers Band of Horses, soul quartet Alabama Shakes, and electronic artist Pretty Lights. This is not exactly the most exciting outcome — many (including myself) were hoping for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sleigh Bells — but I’m certainly happy to check out Crystal Castles at their own gig (they owe us a good show after last year’s dire BDO set), and it marks a big day for New Zealand tour news as Morrissey and Baths were also announced today. As an extra incentive, if you buy a ticket to any of the shows during the pre-sale period you will go into the draw to win tickets and flights to the Sydney Big Day Out, as well as tickets to all the other sideshows, which would obviously be very awesome.

Check out the dates and ticketing details for each show below.
