[WATCH] New clips from THE MASTER starring Joaquin Phoenix

Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master has screened recently at the Toronto International FIlm Festival, where it earned mostly rave reviews (particularly for its performances), as well as the Venice International Film Festival, where P.T. Anderson was awarded the Silver Lion for best director and Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman shared the best actor award (there was also some controversy over the Golden Lion award). Ahead of its 70mm screening at Austin’s infamous Alamo Drafthouse Ritz this week, a new clip has been released which features Freddie Quell (Phoenix) taking a Navy psych evaluation in which he has to evaluate a series of inkblots, and his vulgar answers are what makes the clip not safe for work. A second clip has also just been released to promote the film’s upcoming New York screening at the Ziegfeld, which also benefits the Film Foundation.
