A new trailer has surfaced for the police procedural Cold War, which is being touted as the biggest Hong Kong film of 2012. Written and directed by first-timers Longman Leung and Sunny Luk — a former Art Director and Assistant Director, respectively — the film boasts an all-star cast which includes Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Charlie Young, Gordon Lam, Chin Ka Lok, Andy On, Terence Yin, Eddie Peng, Aariff Rahman, Byron Mann and even an appearance from Andy Lau. Cold War promises an exciting examination of power struggles, corruption and the inner workings of the police force in “Asia’s safest city”, as it follows the story of a missing police van carrying the force’s most advanced equipment and five highly-trained officers, with the hijackers possessing direct knowledge of police procedures and reigning terror across Hong Kong. The trailer is remarkably intense, the cast stellar, and the story intriguing, and I think it’s very possible we could have the next Infernal Affairs or Election on our hands here.
