[WATCH] Kinky first trailer for Brian De Palma’s PASSION starring Rachel McAdams & Noomi Rapace

Legendary suspense filmmaker Brian De Palma is back — following an inconsistent past decade which included one decent film (Femme Fatale) and two awful misfires (The Black DahliaRedacted) — with Passion, a remake of Alain Corneau’s 2010 erotic thriller Crime d’amour (Love Crime) which starred Kristen Scott-Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier as two corporate women involved in a racy and dangerous power struggle. Passion stars Rachel McAdams as the manipulative executive and Noomi Rapace as the bright and timid assistant who is pushed too far, and while this brief first trailer is light on plot and more than a little camp, it certainly looks promising. Hitchcockian thrillers are De Palma’s bread and butter (see: Dressed to KillBlow OutBody Double), and both the actresses and Jose Luis Alcaine’s digital cinematography look terrific, so here’s hoping that this film signifies a return to form for the aging director.

Passion will premiere in Venice and make its way to Toronto shortly thereafter, although there is unfortunately no distributor on board yet. Watch the first trailer below (via The Playlist).

For comparison’s sake you can check out the trailer for Crime d’amour (Love Crime) below.
