Rian Johnson’s twisty time-travel film Looper is one of the most anticipated of the year, and we’ve already seen some terrifically exciting trailers. Ahead of its Toronto International Film Festival premiere, a new international trailer has been released, featuring a voiceover by Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character which explains the mechanics of time travel in the film, and giving us our first look at some of the awesome gadgets in a future where time travel is only available for mobsters [In an intriguing aside, Shane Carruth — the genius behind Primer — worked on the time travel effects here]. This trailer does a nice job of establishing the world of Looper without giving too much away, and once again, the film looks brilliantly realised and thrillingly ambitious, and its release just can’t come soon enough!
Looper hits US theatres on September 21 and NZ on September 27. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels and Garret Dillahunt, and for more you can check out the new Looper promo site. Watch the international trailer below (via Slashfilm).
