Bloc Party return next week with Four, their appropriately titled fourth LP and first in four years. We’ve previously heard the upbeat single ‘Octopus‘ and album cut ‘Day Four‘, and now you can stream the entire album via the group’s website (which allows you to interact with friends on Facebook). On first listen this is an inconsistent but fairly decent comeback album, surprisingly eschewing the electronic leanings of Intimacy and frontman Kele Okereke’s solo material in favour of tracks which rock harder than anything they’ve done before. Four was produced in New York by Alex Newport, who has previously worked with At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, and it’s an interesting departure for the London outfit which I’m looking forward to hearing more of.
Four is due August 20. Stream it below.
