[WATCH] Stunning trailer for Cate Shortland’s LORE

The first trailer has been released for Cate Shortland’s sophomore directorial feature Lore, following 2004’s Somersault which introduced the world to the talents of Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington. This time around the Australian filmmaker is adapting Rachel Seiffert’s novella The Dark Room into a German-language post-World War 2 film, starring exciting newcomer Saskia Rosendahl as the daughter of an SS officer who must take her four siblings on a 900km journey across war-ravaged Germany to the safety of their grandparents’ residence. Following its acclaimed Sydney Film Festival premiere, Lore has now been added to the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, and from the looks of this stunning first trailer – shot by Animal Kingdom and The Hunter cinematographer Adam Arkapaw – it looks likely to live up to the buzz.

Lore is screening as part of the 2012 NZ International Film Festival. For more info/ticketing details, head to the NZIFF website.
