A second trailer has emerged for John Hillcoat’s Lawless, with The Weinstein Company wisely shifting the focus from Shia LeBeouf to Tom Hardy in anticipation of his star-making performance in The Dark Knight Rises this month. As I previously mentioned, the film stars LeBeouf, Hardy, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce in a based-on-a-true-story tale about the Bondurant brothers, who struggle to hang on to their lucrative moonshine business during the fading years of prohibition, with a sadistic special agent on their tail. The script was adapted from Matt Bondurant‘s novel The Wettest County in the World by Nick Cave, and he and Warren Ellis provide the film’s score. This new trailer doesn’t feature a hell of a lot of new footage, but pushing Hardy to the fore was a smart move and Lawless continues to look excellent. In a more unexpected piece of marketing, TWC also released an infographic breaking down the guns used by the main characters, which you will also find below.
Lawless opens August 29 in the US. Unfortunately, New Zealand audiences face a ridiculous wait, as Val Morgan have it scheduled for a February 7, 2013 release (!). Watch the second trailer below (via Slashfilm).
