Saturday Night Live wrapped their 37th season in fantastic fashion last night, with host Mick Jagger joined by a slew of amazing guests. Arcade Fire and The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture joined Jagger on a great rendition of the Rolling Stones’ classic ‘The Last Time’, and then returned at the close of the show for a medley of ‘She’s a Rainbow’ and ‘Ruby Tuesday’, which served as a farewell to Kristen Wiig (who is leaving the show for bigger and better things). Jagger was also helped out by the Foo Fighters on a medley of ’19th Nervous Breakdown’ and ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (But I Like It)’, and legendary guitarist Jeff Beck even made an appearance on Jagger’s new, politically-themed blues number ‘Tea Party’. The already stellar episode, which also featured cameos from Steve Martin and Jon Hamm (!), was made even more epic by the SNL Digital Short ‘Lazy Sunday 2’ – an unexpected, but ridiculously awesome sequel to Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell’s 2005 viral smash ‘Lazy Sunday‘. All up, it was one of the most consistently great episodes of Saturday Night Live I’ve seen in a long time, and the absolute best way to end both the season and Kristen Wiig’s seven-year stint on the show.
