The Late Show with David Letterman became the epicentre of great indie music this week, with Best Coast, Regina Spektor and Beach House all stopping by for live performances. Best Coast brought the title track of their sophomore LP The Only Place on Thursday night (with Bethany Cosentino looking significantly more presentable than usual), and I found the slightly fuzzier live sound suited the song better than the album version. The next night saw Spektor perform her great new single ‘All the Rowboats‘ with the assistance of a full backing band, and the eccentric singer-songwriter couldn’t resist adding some quirkiness to the proceedings with her curious beat-boxing-percussion noises. Last night saw Beach House close the show with a wonderful rendition of their Bloom single ‘Myth‘, showcasing Victoria LeGrand’s beautiful voice, and Alex Scally earned himself a scolding from Dave afterwards (“Get those shoes back on… there’s a huge danger of electrocution!”).
