Fast rising Harlem dance-rapper Azealia Banks dropped the first track from her forthcoming mixtape Fantastic over the weekend, and it’s easily the best thing she’s released since last year’s breakout single ‘212‘. On ‘Jumanji’, her bratty flow gets impressively twisty over a jittery beat and tropical production from Hudson Mohawke and Nick Hook, and it’s fast becoming one of my favourite tracks of the year. If you’re new to Banks, the young upstart has been compared to both Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and will in fact soon be appearing on a remix of the latter’s ‘Bad Girls‘ alongside Rye Rye and Missy Elliott. Banks’ 1991 EP is imminent, Fantastic will arrive this winter (US summer) and her debut full length Broke With Expensive Taste is due September, so expect to be hearing a whole lot more from her in 2012.

Listen to ‘Jumanji’ below (via P4K).

If you missed the video for ‘212’, check it out below.
