[Listen] THE MARS VOLTA – ‘The Malkin Jewel’

Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López will be performing double duty in 2012, reuniting with their old band At the Drive-In for a Coachella appearence plus a tour, as well as releasing a new Mars Volta album on March 27. Today we got our first taste of Noctourniquet, as the single ‘The Malkin Jewel’ was released on the band’s website. It’s a lurching, purposefully sloppy psych-jam that has quite a different vibe to their usual grandiose style, and based on what I heard at the group’s Splendour in the Grass set last year we can expect more stylistic changes on Noctourniquet.

Listen to ‘The Malkin Jewel’ below.
