Supposedly one of Steven Soderbergh’s last films before he retires (he plans to shoot two more: The Side Effects and Behind the Candelabra), Haywire features MMA star Gina Carano in her first big screen action role. The film opens January 20 in the US, and we’ve already seen a series of exciting trailers and clips. This week the first five minutes of the film surfaced online, which includes a brutal fight scene between Carano and Channing Tatum in a diner. Obviously Carano doesn’t impress as an actress in the dialogue leading up to the action, but she certainly kicks ass when it comes time, and hopefully her lack of acting chops can be made up for by the incredible supporting cast (Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Matthieu Kassovitz).
