[LISTEN] DIRTY THREE: ‘Rising Below’

Legendary Australian post-rock trio Dirty Three are set to release their first album in seven years, Toward the Low Sun, on February 28. The trio, made up of violinist Warren Ellis, drummer Jim White, and guitarist Mick Turner, have been busy with other projects in the years since 2005’s Cinder, playing with the likes of Nick Cave, Grinderman, Cat Power, PJ Harvey, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Bill Callahan and others. ‘Rising Below’, the first taste of Toward the Low Sun, was released today and it’s a heavy, six-minute number that will no doubt please long-time fans. Dirty Three are bringing their incredible live show back to Auckland this coming March, and I’m looking forward to seeing them perform new material there.
